Deputy Collector Jehan given minor penalty over inefficiency

ISLAMABAD: Jehan Bahadar, Deputy Collector (BS-18), posted at Collectorate of Customs (Adjudication), Islamabad, has been given minor penalty over inefficiency.

As per details, the disciplinary proceedings were initiated against the accused officer under the Government Servants (Efficiency & Discipline) Rules, 1973 on account of acts of omission and commission, constituting “inefficiency” and “misconduct”, while exercising the powers of Additional Collector Customs at Customs Station Torkham, MCC Peshawar, under section 5(2) of the Customs Act, 1969. Dr Zulfiqar Ali Ch, the then Collector (BS-20), Model Customs Collectorate, Sialkot, was appointed inquiry officer under Rule 5(1)(ii) ibid, to investigate the charges.

According to the inquiry report, the officer was found guilty of “inefficiency”. After having examined the inquiry report, reply to the show-cause notice, case record and verbal submissions of the accused officer, the authorised officer / Member (Admn) found the accused officer guilty of the charge of “inefficiency” levelled against him and imposed minor penalty of “withholding of increment for a period of one year falling on December, 2016 without cumulative effect” upon Jehan Bahadar  under Rule 4(1)(a)(ii) of the Government Servants (E&D) Rules, 1973.

However, Jehan Bahadar has the right of appeal to the appellate authority as provided under the Civil Servants (Appeals) Rules, 1977.
