Deputy Collector Kaukab issues ONO terming seizure of vehicle lawful

ISLAMABAD: Customs Adjudication Islamabad Deputy Collector Kaukab Farooq has declared the confiscation of Toyota Land Cruiser outright by issuing an Order-in-Original (ONO) in this regard.

As per details, the customs officials had impounded the Toyota Land Cruiser bearing Registration No. RPT-586, considering it as smuggled one under Clause 89 of Section 156 (I) of Customs Act, 1969. The officials also forwarded the contravention to the adjudication for further action, besides serving a notice on the suspect.

In the order, the deputy collector stated that despite giving sufficient opportunities to the respondent to present his stance, no one appeared before the authority to prove the legal import of the vehicle.

Therefore, the adjudication issued orders regarding the outright confiscation of the vehicle.
