Deputy Collector Ubaidullah declares seizure of cloth legal

ISLAMABAD: Deputy Collector Adjudication Ubaidullah has issued Order-in-Original (ONO) in favour of the customs authorities and ordered to confiscate the foreign origin cloth.

According to details, Superintendent Customs Zargham Dil, an attempt was made to smuggle foreign origin cloth from Rawalpindi by a Suzuki pick up bearing registration no.RIN-9032.  The customs team intercepted the vehicle and recovered foreign origin cloth.  At the time of occurrence, the driver of the vehicle and other persons were identified as as Wali Khan son of Mama Khel,  Muhammad Saeed Awan son of Ismail and Shakeel son of Wali Khan.

The customs team asked them to provide any legal documents regarding the possession of the cloth but they failed to provide any relevant documents. The Customs team seized the cloth and forward the case to the customs adjudication for further proceedings.

During proceedings of the case no one appear to claim the ownership of seized cloth. The driver of the aforementioned  Suzuki pick ip also stated that he was unaware that the seized cloth was non-duty/ taxes paid. Customs adjudication deputy collector directs to release of the aforementioned offending vehicle up against a penalty of Rs 10,000.
