Deputy Director Zainab raids shops to curb selling of smuggled cigarettes

SIALKOT: Custom Intelligence and Investigation Gujranwala Deputy Director Zainab Mehmood along with her team raided various cigarettes shops in order to curb selling of smuggled cigarettes.

The Customs Intelligence team comprising Deputy Superintendent Muhammad Anwar, Investigation Officers Syed Majid Raza, Mian Mohammad Yousaf and Agha Naseem Haider conducted raids at markets of Gujranwala and Wazirabad.

Officials said that the deputy director planned the raids after receiving information that many shopkeepers are involved in selling of smuggled cigarettes causing loss to national kitty. The team checked several shops carefully but it could not recover smuggled cigarettes from any shop.

However, the deputy director warned all shop keepers of stern action if they found involved in such crime, as their shops will be sealed and accused persons will be sent behind the bars.

She directed all staff to stop selling of smuggled banned cigarettes in order to save the exchequer from the economical losses. She said that the FBR and present government has vowed to eliminate the smuggling, adding that all possible measures will be taken to curb the smuggling and selling of banned cigarettes.
