Deputy Director Zainab Mehmood visits Kamoke check-post

SIALKOT: Deputy Director Customs Intelligence and Investigation  Zainab Mehmood visited Kamoke check-post the other day.

Customs official told Customs Today that Zainab checked the arrangements of the Customs Intelligence and Investigation Department and instructed the staff to curb smuggling in the region. However, during her visit, she observed the performance of the staff at various positions.

The deputy director advised the staff to work devotedly to curb smuggling in Gujranwala Region. She also chaired a meeting at Kamokey check-post to devise an effective strategy against smugglers in the region. She directed the staff to continue their anti-smuggling activities against non-customs paid goods and vehicles.

She said that Shoukat Ali from Customs Department Group has appointed a Director General of Customs Intelligence and Investigation Department Punjab while he has instructed that any staff concern should not show negligence to curb smuggling rather he will also visit to check the check-posts and performance of field staff. She said that the performance of department in Gujranwala Region is much better and need to more improvement. She instructed Superintendent Muhammad Rauf Farooqi that the Anti Smuggling Campaign should be successful because this campaign was started by the order of Federal Board of Revenu (FBR) Chairman Nisar Muhammad Khan. She said that the FBR has vowed to complete shortage of staff and hope that the shortage of staff will end soon by the requirement of new staff.
