The NAIAS is “known as a celebration of five shows-in-one”: The Gallery, where $7 million worth of exotic and luxury cars are displayed, Press Preview, Industry Preview, Charity Preview and Public Show.

The NAIAS, its 27th year, had fifty-five vehicles revealed over the two media preview days. See highlights from day one and day two of the media preview events.

The Detroit Tigers, including star-pitcher Justin Verlander, made a special appearance at the auto show Friday apart of the Tigers Winter Caravan tour.

Another highlight of the show, Steve Miller Band performed at the auto show prom this year. $5.3 million was raised for children’s charities by the 15,350 Charity Preview attendees.

“We’ve had our problems in Detroit. Tonight we shine,” said Katherine Howell, of Royal Oak. Howell and her husband Larry, a retired GM executive, have attended the Charity Preview for over 20 years.

The opening weekend saw a staggering 215,836 people attend. Car lovers were treated to 750 cars on display as well as numerous interactive games for all ages.

According to the NAIAS the auto show is expected to bring $400 millions in economic impact, per economist David Sowerby, this year.
