KARACHI: Director General of Customs Valuation Syed Tanvir Ahmed has geared up efforts to complete the database of the Customs Valuation Department.
According to the details, Director General of the Customs Valuation Syed Tanvir Ahmed has directed the officers to complete the database as soon as possible to facilitate the officials and the importers.
Initially, Syed Tanvir Ahmed has set a target to include 3,000 valuations of the different items into the database of the Customs Valuation Department. The values shall be uploaded in WeBOC system and will be visible to all assessing officers. The values determined through valuation rulings will be continued and all previous rulings are being revised along with new valuation rulings.
The Director General of the Customs Valuation Syed Tanvir Ahmed stated that from the month of February the valuation department has successfully issued four hundred valuation rulings up till now. He said that the correct values are being fixed for those items that are also manufactured locally. As a result values have been enhanced from 100 percent to 400 percent comparing to clearance values.
Director General of the Customs Valuation also informed that the values of shoes, furniture, stationary etc has been fixed at very much higher side that will not only protect the local manufacturers but will also be helpful in boosting the revenue. He said that the work on the database is going in full swing and for achieving the target the speed of the valuation department is very satisfactory.
After uploading the valuations of the different items in WeBOC system it will be very ease for the officers to assess any valuation in seconds and will be visible to all assessing officers.
Director General of the Customs Valuation Syed Tanvir Ahmed also said that once the valuation is uploaded the same will be revised according to the orders and time frame given by the honorable court for valuation revision of any item.
