DG Customs Valuation Wasif Memon to determine valuation of imported shoes

KARACHI: Valuation of the imported shoes to be decided by the Directorate General of Customs Valuation in a meeting with representatives of the shoes importers.

According to source, the members of the Shoes Importers Association have contacted the officers of the Customs Valuation to settle the issue regarding the valuation of the imported shoes.

During the initial meeting and talk with the officers of the Directorate General of Customs Valuation, the members of the association have agreed to withdraw the case file by them against the valuation ruling of the imported shoes determined by the Director Customs Valuation Wasif Ali Memon.

On the other hand, the officers of the Directorate General of Customs Valuation have also agreed to re determined the valuation of the imported shoes

Earlier a market survey was conducted by the Valuation department from Chappal Gali and went to 10 shops and selling price were taken from whole sellers and found as under

1)     Children shoes were available at Rs250 to 270/pair. 2)     Boys/Girls shoes were available at Rs 530/Pair. 3)     Similarly price of the other brands were found correct.

Earlier the survey by Directorate General of Customs Valuation conducted and direction was issued while hearing a revision petition filed by M/s JB shoes and others against the VR No 859/2016 dated 02-05-2016 issued under section 25-A of the custom act, 1969.

Both the officers of the Directorate General of Customs Valuation and the members of the association of imported shoes are in talk to settle the issue amicably.

The source informed that at the first stage the members of the association of imported shoes will withdraw the case filed in the court against the valuation ruling determined by the Directorate General of Customs Valuation.

On the second stage the meeting of the officer of the Directorate General of Customs Valuation and the members of the imported shoes association will be held at the office of the valuation department.

The settlement of both the parties will end on the new valuation of the imported shoes as both have agreed on to withdraw the case as well as to withdraw the recent valuation.
