DG Imtiaz Ahmad to discuss anti-smuggling operation with FBR chairman

ISLAMABAD: Customs Intelligence and Investigations Director General Imtiaz Ahmad Khan has decided to keep himself away from combined anti-smuggling operation due to shortage of staff.

Sources informed Customs Today that DG Imtiaz will also meet Federal Board of Revenue Chairman Nisar Muhammad Khan and Customs Member Nasir Masroor during the current week and apprise them of the new strategy.

Sources said that on the other hand, Customs Intelligence authorities will take part in the anti-smuggling operation on their own. Sources said that positive results are being witnessed as a result of this operation, but due to shortage of staff and other legal hurdles such as physical appearance of staff in the courts, the anti-smuggling operation the experienced some hiccups.

Sources said that first the FBR will resolve the issue of shortage of staff and then will start the anti-smuggling operation with full force and devotion.
