DG intelligence and investigation seizes 1150 lots of Indian clothes

KARACHI: Directorate General Intelligence & Investigation Karachi has seized 1150 lots of banned Indian origin grey cloth worth of 30 million en route from India to Karachi via Dubai.

Sources told that Director General Mr. Shoukat Ali received secret information regarding organized smuggling of banned Indian cloth in various parts of the country and in case of caught up; smugglers show fake goods declarations for their escape. In view of said information Directorate General office ordered Director Karachi Samina Tasleem Zehra and Deputy Director Sanam Qureshi to crackdown against smuggling of grey cloth form India or other countries. As per order Directorate customs intelligence Karachi constituted a special team which conducted a raid in secret stock located at Site Sher Shah Area. During raid it was revealed that 1150 lots of cloth worth 30 million ( 3 Crores) was smuggled in the name of Faiz Muhammad, Muhabullah and Jamsheed. After successful raid Faiz Muhammad came in Directorate office and claims 486 lot of cloth. He also showed good declaration for import of cloth in the name of Adnan Textile and Multi Textile but after investigation from said textile mills and other sources department found that document are fake and Faiz Muhammad was arrested.

Sources further said Faiz Muhammad revealed during investigation that a person gave him 56 lacs 80 thousand rupees to smuggle 486 lots of cloth from Dubai to Pakistan, later on these was brought to Karachi.

Industry Sources said that 30 single polyester monofilament fabric in not manufactured in Pakistan because its weaving is too difficult and its production cost is 40 to 50 percent more than smuggled grey clot
