DG Internal Audit asks collectorates to expedite recovery of Rs 844.878m stuck up revenue

KARACHI: The Directorate General of Customs Internal Audit has instructed the Customs collectorates to expedite the process to recover the stuck up amount of Rs 844.878 million.

Sources told Customs Today that the Internal Audit went through the audit report in respect of the Directorate of Intelligence and Investigation (FBR) Karachi for the year 2014-15.

The team of the officers who conducted the audit include Deputy Director Ghulam Haider Mahesar, Superintendent SA Jafri, Deputy Superintendent Shaikh Mansur, Deputy Director Muhammad Tayyab, Deputy Director Amjad Ali Rajper, Superintendent Abdul Razak Samejo, Superintendent Zafar Iqbal, Superintendent Muhammad Ilyas and Superintendent Mehmood Abbas.

According to sources, the scrutiny of the case files pertaining to the year 2014-15 revealed that the adjudication orders were issued and decided in the favour of the department in dozens of cases. The orders were also issued for the recovery of the adjudged amount.

However, Directorate of Intelligence and Investigation  failed to initiate further proceedings for the recovery of adjudged amount even after passage of more than one year. Failure to comply with the orders the government revenue of Rs 844.878 million has been stuck up.
