DG Internal Audit Customs Owais Agha Jawwad writes to FBR about issues faced by the deptt

KARACHI: Dr Owais Agha Jawwad, the Director General (DG) of the Directorate General of Internal Audit-Customs, has written to the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) in connection with the audit paras sent by the directorate concerned to different field formation collectorates.

According to details, the DG has written a letter after the field formation collectorates showed lethargy in submitting the replies of para-wise comments.

The sources informed Customs Today that the Directorate General of Internal Audit-Customs has sent audit-paras regarding short recovery of millions of rupees in imported consignments of steel, auto-parts, electronic items, cosmetics and others to the field formation collectorates i.e. Customs Appraisement-East,  Customs Appraisement-West and Customs Port Muhammad Bin Qasim. However, the collectorates did not submit replies as yet.

The sources informed this scribe that the Directorate General of Internal Audit-Customs has sent around 100 audit-paras to all three field formation collectorates i.e. Customs Appraisement West, Customs Appraisement East and Customs Port Muhammad Bin Qasim during the last three months of the last quarters of the FY2015-16.

It is pertinent to mention here that the Directorate General of Internal Audit-Customs has faced problems from Pakistan Revenue Automation Limited (PRAL) in connection with providing import data to the Directorate General of Internal Audit-Customs.

Furthermore, the authorities concerned of field formation collectorates are also not taking interest in sending replies for the audit-paras sent by the authorities concerned of the Internal Audit-Customs.
