DG Khan FIU impounds non duty paid Toyota Hilux Surf

DERA GHAZI KHAN: The Field Investigation Unit (FIU) of the Customs Intelligence and Investigation impounded  a non- duty paid Toyota Hilux Surf model 1992 bearing registration no: AZL-4446 Sindh in black color worth Rs 2 million and involving duty and taxes up to Rs1.8 million.

Sources told Customs Today that Deputy Director Rana Irfan Shouqat received information regarding some smuggling attempts. He constituted a raiding team comprising Superintendent Muhammad Tahir Iqbal, Intelligence Officer Mohsin Raza Shah, Mansoor Nasir and sepoys Liaqat ali Muhammad Naveed Akhtar, Mussadaq Ahmed and Shouqat Hayat.

The customs I&I team intercepted non-duty paid Toyota Hilux Surf near Alipur City district Muzaffargarh. The vehicle was smuggled from Sindh via Loralai Sakhi Sarwar to Dera Ghazi Khan.

The driver after some distance parked the vehicle on the roadside and succeeded to escape due to heavy traffic. Therefore the said vehicle was detained under section 17 of the Customs Act 1969 read with section 2(kk) ibid for verification its legal import documents by the lawful owner. The customs FIU seized the vehicle and forwarded the case to customs adjudication.
