DG Shaukat vows not to tolerate corruption, misconduct

ISLAMABAD: Customs Intelligence and Investigation newly-appointed Director General Shaukat Ali vowed stern action against corruption, violation of discipline and misconduct.

Shaukat Ali said that all officials will be punctual, while all working will be done by following the premises of rules and regulations. All those who will take undue benefits will have to bear full weight of law.

He was sharing his views at an introductory session with the officials of Customs Intelligence. He further said that suggestions for the betterment of the department will be welcomed; adding that delay in working will not be tolerated.

The DG also decided to visit all regional offices in country. At first, he will pay visit to directorates located in Lahore, Karachi, Quetta and others and later to Multan, Faisalabad and Peshawar in order to review the performance.

After holding his office on Tuesday, the DG spent a busy day at the directorate where he also held an introductory session with the officials of Rawalpindi and Islamabad and inquired about the performance and capacity of different departments. A proper session to brief the DG will be arranged in coming days where he will announce his priorities.

It may be mentioned here that the DG is known for his discipline, honesty and punctuality within the department.

Shaukat Ali pursuing the Board’s Notification No.2507-C-I/2016 dated October 14, 2016, relinquished the charge of the post of Legal member with effect from October 17.

Shaukat Ali was made member on January 5 this year, after giving his services as Input Output Co-Efficient Organisation (IOCO) director general in Karachi. The officer remained collector in Faisalabad in 2013.
