PESHAWAR: Director General Transit Trade Javed Ghani visited transit directorate Peshawar and assured the officials of transit trade and office-bearers of Pak-Afghan joint chamber of commerce (PAJCCI) to resolve their issues related to trade through Pak-Afghan border.
The meeting was presided over by Director Transit Trade Fayaz Anwar, Additional Director Ziaullah Shams, Deputy Director Adeem Khan. Director General Transit Trade also met with delegation of Pak-Afghan joint chamber of commerce and industry. The delegation was comprised Director PAJCCI Imtiaz Ahmad Ali, President of Frontier Customs Agents Group Haji Gul Afzal Shinawari, General Secretary Farooq Ahmad and member executive body Shakil Ahmad.
The delegation welcomed the visit of Javed Ghani to Peshawar and appraised him regarding the issues facing the business community via Afghan transit trade. The delegation asked for ending the monopoly of bonded carriers and make them liable to ensure safe and secure supply of goods to the marked destinations.
The business community also demanded to activate the current tracking system because the tracking system efficiency is very poor and they are only receiving their fees. They said that there are also problems in customs clearing at Karachi as the system is marking five percent goods while the staff is examining the whole container.
There are also loopholes in laboratory, and whenever there are goods supply and theft related issues, FIR is being lodged against customs clearing agents while the goods are owned by the supplier. They also demanded cancellation of NOC of Afghan traders who are involved in smuggling and theft of goods.
