OKLAHOMA: The Lincoln County Partnership (LCP) for Child Well-Being has launched a transportation initiative to develop and expand public transportation in the county. The partnership is chaired by Judge Sheila Kirk and is part of the Pinnacle Plan Child Welfare Community Collaborative Initiative. The partnership is supported by the Oklahoma Department of Human Services (DHS) and includes numerous community organizations and nonprofits.
“Lack of public transportation has been a major problem in Lincoln County for a long time,” said Brandy Smith, DHS Child Welfare Community Collaborative Program Supervisor. “Many partners are involved with this initiative, both locally and at the state level.”Low-income families who receive services in Lincoln County often cannot afford their own transportation and are unable to access services simply because they cannot get to the providers. The transportation initiative will help ease that burden.
“Public transportation will provide continuity of care, access to services and improve quality of life for our citizens,” said Jami Earp, Lincoln County Partnership for Child Well-Being Coordinator. “Public transportation opens doors for families to improve their overall well-being by accessing health care, economic and educational opportunities that may not be available to residents without transportation.”
