Digital notices declared mandatory for collection of property tax

MULTAN: Secretary Excise and Taxation Punjab has directed Multan division to issue computerized property tax challan for the payment of property tax in the region.

The Excise and Taxation Department, Multan Division, has received the directions from Secretary Excise Punjab to issue the computerized property tax notices for the recovery of property tax while stern action will be taken against those employees who will issue manual notices.

In order to generate more transparency in the collection of taxes Punjab government have decided to collect taxes after the issuance of online property tax notice to the land owner.

Sources told Customs Today, that government is trying to ensure the transparency in the collection of property taxes after receiving certain complaints from the property owners in the payment of property taxes to remove any sort of ambiguity in digital issued notices from Excise and Taxation Department.

Some of the divisions have claimed to achieve set target in the previous fiscal year 2014-15 but they were failed to gain the set target. This digital issued notice system from Excise and Taxation Department will project the actual picture of the property tax collection in the province.

Now strict action will be taken against the those Excise officers who will  issue manual property tax challans.
