Dipped LPG rates in international must trickle down to local consumers

KARACHI: All Pakistan Liquid Petroleum Gas (LPG) Distributors Association has urged the local LPG producers to immediately revise cost of the product in accordance to recent slash in the global market.

Ali Haider, Senior Vice Chairman LPG Distributors Association in a statement on Thursday said ARAMCO contract price for LPG export has been reduced by US Dollar 92 and announced to be US Dollar 472 per ton. The per ton import cost for Pakistan has thus been reduced by Rs.9750, he said.

The significant cut in the LPG cost, he said can help local consumers avail a relief by Rs.10 per Kilo of LPG; Rs.115 for every 11.8 Kg cylinder and Rs.445 for every 45.4 Kg cylinder respectively.  Ali Haider also the Senior Vice Chairman of FPCCI’s Standing Committee regretted that local producers of LPG were reluctant to pass on the relief to the local consumers.  He urged the producers to ensure that local marketing companies were provided with the product at adequate rates enabling them to have reasonable profit rates, with due provision for needed relief to the end users.
