KARACHI: Director Customs Intelligence and Investigation, Karachi region, Asif Marghoob Siddiqui has expressed his satisfaction over the achievements of his directorate during the fiscal year 2014-15.
Talking to Customs Today, Director Asif said that as compared to the cases of anti-smuggling made by the directorate in the year 2013-14 this time an achievement of 132 per cent was witnessed. He said that cases to tune of Rs 1.6 billion were made in year 2014-15, while in the year 2013-14 the cases were made to the tune of Rs 666 millions.
The goods which were seized included diesel, electronic goods, foreign smuggled liquor, narcotics, cigarettes etc.
He further disclosed that during the recovery of duties and taxes on ports/airports Rs 3.4 billion were valued in 2014-15, while in 2013-14 these were to the tune of Rs 1.586 billion with an achievement of 112 percent, Asif Marghoob added further.
In the head of revenue realization in 2014-15, Customs Intelligence realized Rs 555 million under the heads of stuck up amount in litigation, auction or on spot recoveries, while in 2013-14 the realization was of Rs 143 millions, he added saying that department marked an achievement of 290 per cent which is record achievement.
Commending the working of his team of Customs Investigation and Intelligence, Karachi region, Asif Marghoob Siddiqui hoped that his team would continue its hard work with dedication with a view to minimise the menace of the smuggling.
