Customs Director General Jagath P. Wijeweera tendered his resignation letter to the Finance Ministry Secretary.
Finance Minister Ravi Karunaratne told the media that they accepted his resignation.
Wijeweera decided to resign from his post due to personal reasons, he said.
The minister said they are now strengthening Sri Lanka Customs and were finding ways and means to increase government revenue by making it a more efficient and effective entity.
