LAHORE: Customs Directorate of Reforms and Automation Project Director Nazia Saleem visited Wagha Border to extend technical assistance to the staff on newly-launched WeBOC system.
Sources said that the director had a meeting with the importers, exporters and customs clearing agents to bring improvement in the WeBOC system. The project director gathered facts about the first-ever WeBOC system at the Wagha Land Freight Unit and will advise accordingly to the local administration operating the system following consulting with the DG Reforms and Automation Majad Yousfi.
The first-ever WeBOC system at any Land Freight Unit has been installed at the Wagha Border during the current month and importers, exporters and clearing agents have started using the facility. On the other hand, the MCC Preventive has encouraged the importers and exporters to get registered at the earliest to use the system for import and export between India and Pakistan.
The sources said that the system has successfully been launched, however, the goods declarations for perishable goods is not still being filed. The WeBOC system has to be installed at the Wagha Border for India-Pakistan bilateral trade.
Official sources said that unfortunately, the project was delayed due to some technical reasons. However, they hoped now that the system has been launched and will increase trade volume between the two countries, they added. They informed that in this regard staff, importers, exporter and clearing agents will be trained on the system for which training workshops and capacity building sessions will also be held.
