Director Transit Trade Faiz Ali presides over Pak-Afghan Liaison body meeting

PESHAWAR: Pak Afghan Liaison Committee meeting was held at Customs House in which stress was given to eliminate the concerns of trade community over Pak Afghan Trade and Transit route.

According to the details, liaison committee consisted of Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) member, representative of Pakistan Afghan joint chambers, officials of Afghan government, importers of Pak Afghan Trade and Transit route.

During the meeting, Director Transit Trade Faiz Ali discussed operational issues relating to Afghan Transit trade and bilateral trade with President Sarhad Chamber Commerce and Industry (SCCI).

Additional Director Faisal Bukhari, Additional Collector Ziaullah Shams, Assistant Commissioner Landikotel Mohammed Imran, General Manager National Logistics Cell Jamrud, also attended the meeting.

Both the parties thoroughly discussed the issues stopping the trade to benefit the national Exchequer. President SCCI told the officers that Customs regulatory stations are required to safeguard the road to Afghanistan.

Recently Pakistan has signed project with Turkmenistan to import gas and electricity which will have to pass through Afghanistan.
