PCA starts scrutinising audit observations to detect millions of rupees tax, duty evasions

KARACHI: The Directorate of Post Clearance Audit-PCA has started its working to establish significant audit observations against some unscrupulous importers who imported millions of rupees consignments through mis-declaration of PCT Heading, quantity, HS Code and description, it is learn here.

The sources informed Customs Today that the authorities concerned of the Directorate of PCA while following the directives of its Director Gul Rehman has started to scrutinize the post clearance data of some consignments pertaining to telecommunication, fabric, machinery and plastics.

They further said that the authorities concerned of PCA has almost completed its working to establish audit observations against the defaulters and show cause would be issued to the unscrupulous elements in the next phase.

“The contravention reports against the unscrupulous elements would be started to prepare from next week, adding that the cases would later to be forwarded to the adjudicating authorities for legal proceedings” sources added.

They further said that the authorities concerned have found millions of rupees short revenue from the imported consignments of fabric, telecommunication, machinery and others.

It is pertinent to mention here that the authorities concerned of the Directorate of PCA has already detected audit observations against M/s Warid Tel and the management of Karachi International Containers’ Terminal (KICT).
