Directorate PCA forwards 7 cases of violation of SRO 1125(I)/2011 to adjudicating Collectorate

KARACHI: The Directorate of Post Clearance Audit-PCA has forwarded seven cases of tax evasion, in which the importers were reportedly taking undue advantage of SRO1125 (I)/2011 in importation of fabric, chemicals, machinery and other related items and evaded around Rs 0.5 million in terms of Sales Tax and Income Tax  to the Collectorate of Customs Adjudication-I.

According to details, the authorities concerned of PCA while scrutinizing the post clearance data have found that seven importers including M/s A J Printers, Peshawar; M/s Kahoot International; M/s I T Associates; M/s RBA Leather scrap and Chemical, Lahore; M/s Punjab Impex, Lahore; M/s Royal Business International and M/s Medical, Rawalpindi in violation of SRO 1125(I)/2011.

During scrutinizing the data, the PCA authorities found that the M/s A J Printers, Peshawar was involved in duty/taxes evasion amounting to Rs 36,361; M/s Kahoot International involved in duty/taxes evasion amounting to Rs 200,411; M/s I T Associates involved in tax evasion amounting to Rs 35,363; M/s RBA Leather scrap and Chemical, Lahore amounting to Rs 39,296; M/s Punjab Impex, Lahore amounting to Rs 40,554; M/s Royal Business International amounting to Rs 48,866 and M/s Medical, Rawalpindi amounting to Rs 73,155.

After detecting the short payment in terms of Sales Tax and Income Tax, the PCA authorities sent audit observations to the aforementioned importers in order to deposit the evaded amount. However; none of the importers replied positively against the audit observations sent by the PCA authorities.

Later, the PCA authorities concerned made contravention report against the importers and sent those to the adjudication Collectorate for further legal proceedings.
