Discos to sell Rs30-33m energy/month: NTDCL replaces two 250 MVA transformers at 220Kv grid stations

LAHORE: With the aim to improve voltage profile and to eliminate tripping, the National Transmission and Despatch Company Limited (NTDCL) has changed two 250 MVA transformers at 220Kv grid station Bahawalpur and 220Kv grid station Burhan near Hasan Abdal.

According to the NTDCL spokesman, the transformers were replaced to increases voltages and to get rid of tripping and loadshedding in MEPCO, IESCO and PESCO areas in summer. He said that the company had chalked out a comprehensive plan for mitigation of forced loadshedding, low voltage and tripping which occurs due to overloading of grid system especially during summers.

The enhanced capacity of replaced transformers of 160 MVA with 250 MVA will reduce transmission system losses and facilitate DISCOs to create space/cushion in the distribution system to provide new connections. However, distribution companies will also be able to sell more energy to the terms of Rs30-33 million per month.

In compliance with the plan, NTDC engineers and staff has replaced one 250 MVA transformers at 220 Kv Grid Station Burhan which will benefit the industrial and domestic consumers of Islamabad Electric Supply Company (IESCO) and Peshawar Electric Supply Company (PESCO) particularly in  Abbotabad, Manshera, Hattar, Haripur, Pakistan Ordinance Factory, Taxila, Fateh Jang, Jhand, New Wah, Sanjwal, Old Kamra, Attok, Bassal, Gondal, Faqeerabad, Aeronautical complex Kamra and Nizam cement factory.
