Discos want 54 paisas increase in power tariff

ISLAMABAD: The electricity distribution companies (Discos) want 52 paisas (per kilowatts hour) increase in power tariff under fuel adjustment charges for September.

As per Central Power Purchasing Agency (CPPA) figures, a total of 9,125 gigawatts hours (Gwh) electricity was generated during September 2014, while 8,934.91GWh electricity worth Rs60,538.26 million was delivered to Discos. Energy generation from RFO cost Rs43,518.28 million which is more then 70pc of total cost of 9,125 GWh for the month under review.

The CPPA figures show that the energy cost from coal was Rs4.49 kilowatts per hour (KWh), HSD Rs20.20 KWh, RFO Rs15.6554 KWh, gas Rs4.30 KWh, nuclear Rs1.18 kWh, while cost of kilowatt hour for imported electricity from Iran stood at Rs9.80. The line losses between energy generated and delivered to Discos were 181.64 GWh.
