Discrepancies in declarations: FBR blacklists M/s Azmi Plastic Works

MULTAN: The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) Regional Tax Office (RTO) Islamabad has blacklisted the M/s Azmi Plastic Works after observing abnormal behavior of taxable in the Sales tax returns.

Chief Commissioner Inland Revenue Regional Tax Office Islamabad Manzoor Ali Jokhio has examined the available date at Federal Board of Revenue e-portal in respect of M/s Ghulam & Sons located at Fateh Jhang Road, Tarnol Islamabad. M/s Ghulam & Sons having national tax number 1213114-8 and sales tax registration number STRN 0701271106028 found gross discrepancies in the declarations during scrutiny.

The description of items purchased and supplied was not found in conformity with each other purchases and purchases were made without any source of investment, wrong declarations to avoid sales tax payment and unavailability of the registered person at the declared address etc. The contact number given in the registered person was also found inaccessible.

Traces of the owner of M/s Ghulam & Sons was not found at the residential address mentioned on Computerized National Identity Card. The Federal Board of Revenue found  during scrutiny that M/s Mohsin Plastic works Hyderabad has made supplies by issuing fake invoices to M/s Ghulam & Sons Jhang Road Tarnol Islamabad which is non-existent unit during the tax period  August, September & October 2017 and these supplies were valuing almost Rs8,7063.

The Federal Board of Revenue has provided several chances to respondents but neither registered person come to explain its position and this act comes in the ambit of tax fraud in terms of section 2(37) of tax fraud in terms of section 2 (37) of the Sales tax act 1990.The Federal Board of Revenue has blacklisted the company M/s Ghulam & Sons in order to prevent the misuse of Sales tax registration number and to safeguard the government revenue. The sales tax registration was suspended vide order no.441. after provision of several opportunities to explain position and no one appeared personally or submitted any reply.

Therefore, Commissioner exercised the powers conferred upon under section 2(12) of the Sales tax act 1990 along with rule 12 of the sales tax act 2006 vide SRO 555(I)/2006 registration of M/s Azmi Plastic works Hyderabad declared blacklisted from the date of registration and until further orders.
