Dist Council Umerkot approves Rs333m budget

MIRPURKHAS: The District Council Umerkot has approved tax-free budget of Rs. 333 million for the fiscal year 2017-18. District Council Umerkot Chairman Dr Syed Noor Ali Shah, presiding over the budget session, said that Rs68 million has been allocated for the salaries of employees and Rs134 million for development works in the district.

Dr Shah said that Rs. one million has been earmarked for financial support of employees, Rs. 5 million for combating disasters, Rs. 200,000 for the celebration of national days and Rs2 million has been allocated for malaria spray in the district.

The grant earmarked for different press clubs of the district, legal advocate fees, Hajj and other religious offerings for employees of the district council amounts to Rs3,60,000.

The budget was approved with the consensus of all the members of the council. The session was attended by Vice Chairman Haji Muhammad, Chief Municipal Officer Imtiaz Ali Halepoto, Accounts Officer Altaf Qaimkhani and all the members of the council.
