KARACHI: The district administration Karachi has challaned 42 shopkeepers and imposed fine of Rs 33, 000 as they were violating the approved rates.
According to a handout issued here on Friday, during crackdown the administration fined 19 milk sellers, 10 grocers, 10 vegetables sellers and 3 chicken sellers.
The action against profiteers were taken in the areas including Liaquat Abad, Gulberg, Nazimabad, North Nazimabad, New Karachi, Murad Memon Goth, Model Colony, Shah Faisal, Saddar, Aram Bagh, Civil Line, Garden, Jamshed Quarters, Gulzar Hijri, Orangi Town, Baldia Town and other areas.
Commissioner Karachi Shoaib Ahmed Siddiqui has said that the operation against profiteers will continue till the sale of essential items is not ensured according to officially approved price list.
