LONDON: The European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) has asked national aviation authorities and aircraft operators to observe “extreme caution” while flying in Pakistani airspace.
The EASA – a European Union (EU) regulatory body working in the field of civilian aviation safety – issued a notice on its website stating that the “potential” of terrorist attacks in Pakistan has led to an increased risk for airlines. The body’s warning was based on the Directorate General for Civil Aviation (France) issuing a notice recommending that French operators should not fly below 24,000 feet inside Pakistani territory.
