TOKYO: Dollar got stronger to 118 against yen in early trade on Friday in Tokyo, mostly unaffected from its level during the night in New York.
At 9 a.m., the dollar fetched 118.87-93 yen compared with 118.79-89 yen in New York and 118.68-70 yen in Tokyo at 5 p.m. Thursday.
The euro was quoted at $1.2288-2289 and 146.09-13 yen against $1.2281-2291 and 145.97-146.07 yen in New York and $1.2316-2317 and 146.17-21 yen in Tokyo late Thursday afternoon.
In New York on Thursday, the dollar remained solid as a sharp rise in U.S. stocks prompted traders to sell the yen, considered safer than other currencies, as they sought riskier assets, dealers said.
