DP world, Emirates shipping launch Galex shipping service at Cochin port

KOCHI: DP World and Emirates Shipping Line launched Galex, a new shipping service that is a consortium of the four vessel operators ESL, KMTC, RCL and Hanjin.

Petrohue, the first vessel of Galex, called at the International Container Transshipment Terminal (ICTT), Vallarpadam, on Monday.

Emirates Shipping Line vice-president (Operations) Noel Rattan; Customs Commissioner K N Raghavan; CSEZ Development Commissioner A N Safeena; and DP World (Subcontinent) senior vice-president cum MD Captain Anil Singh jointly received the new service.

Galex consists of seven vessels, with capacity of around 6,500 TEUs each. It is expected to reinforce the Cochin Port’s  position as a transshipment hub with state-of-the-art facilities.
