Dr Arslan’s Peshawar Customs foils bid to smuggle narcotics worth Rs34.2m

PESHAWAR: Directorate of Customs Intelligence and Investigation (I&I) team foiled a bid to smuggle huge quantity of narcotics.

According to details, Director Customs I&I Dr. Arsalan Subuctageen received secret information about smuggling of narcotics on 4.10.2018. He immediately constituted a team under the supervision of Additional Director Wajid Ali which also includes Superintendent Mukhtiar Ullah. The I&I team established a check post near Rashkai Interchange and started checking of vehicles.

At around 6am, a vehicle bearing registration no: LXH-6396 crossed the checking ignoring the signal of the staff. The I&I team chased the vehicle and the driver of the vehicle parked the same alongside the road and started firing and successfully escaped from the scene.

During checking of vehicle, customs I&I team brought the vehicle to customs I&I office and recovered 25 packets of heroin powder worth Rs34.2 million in international market.

Customs Intelligence and Investigation registered FIR No 61/2018 against the unknown accused persons and started investigations.
