Dr Irshad stresses coordinated efforts to boost revenue collection

FAISALABAD: Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) Inland Revenue-Operation Member Dr Muhammad Irshad emphasised on coordinated efforts and amicable behaviour with taxpayers in order to generate more revenue along with promoting tax culture in country.

During his first visit to the Regional Tax Office, Faisalabad with the start of new fiscal year 2016-17, he held meeting with Chief Commissioner Shad Muhammad and other officials to review the performance of the department

The member also inquired about complaints and problems faced by the tax officials while performing their duties in the field. He also discussed various points in order to boost the tax collections, besides directing the officials to finalise a strategy for achieving the revenue targets for the current fiscal year.

The member was also briefed about tax measures being adopted by the RTO for revenue collections and discussed current status of the department where Dr Irshad lauded the performance of the officials.

The IR-Operations member also attended a seminar arranged by the Faisalabad Tax Bar Association and spoke on the linkages between taxes and economic growth, adding that paying the taxes was not less than a national duty. He also inaugurated new building for tax bar lawyers.

He also sought proposals from the RTO and tax bar association to enhance the revenue collection. After that he admired the hard working of tax bar President Hamid Masood and other senior tax bar lawyers. He also urged the lawyers to expedite the proceedings in order recover stuck up revenue in pending cases.

During the meeting, IR Commissioner Muhammad Akram Khan, Ahmed Shuja Khan and Commissioner Headquarter (HRM) Farooq Ahmed Khan and others were also present on the occasion.
