Dr. Sadiqullah Khan’s Hyderabad I&I seizes betel nuts, vehicle worth Rs16.5m

HYDERABAD: Directorate of Customs Intelligence and Investigation (I&I) has seized huge quantity of betel nut. The market value of the seized betel nuts is Rs.13.5 million and vehicle is Rs.3 million.

Sources said that Director Customs I&I Dr. Sadiqullah Khan directed head of ASO Wing Jamshed Ali Talpur, Additional Director and Syed Muhammad Raza Naqvi Deputy Director and the team of ASO to lidentify possible dumping grounds in the district of Tando Allahyar and Mirpurkhas.

Consequently, pursuing a reliable source that huge quantity of contraband goods were dumped in a godown situated at Pathan Goth, Meghwar Para, District Tando Allahyar, the team of ASO Wing, Directorate of Intelligence & Investigation (Customs), Regional Office, Hyderabad under the supervision of Deputy Director (ASO) Hyderabad in coordination with 73-Wing of Qasim Rangers, Sindh at Hyderabad entered the premises and found a poultry (chicken) truck having specially designed cavities and recovered 200 bags of smuggled betel nuts from those cavities, whereas, 160 bags were also recovered which were also stored/dumped in the premises.

Total value of the case is Rs.16.5 million. One persons has been arrested and FIR is being lodged. Further progress will be intimated in due course of time.
