PESHAWAR: A local court has awarded life imprisonment to an Afghan national who was arrested and charged with narcotics smuggling.
Additional District and Sessions Judge, Peshawar, Fazal Sattar Khan, announced the sentence after the prosecution proved the charges against the Afghan national. He was charged under Section 9 of Control of Narcotics Substance Act. During trial, the public prosecutor submitted that as per the first information report (FIR) registered by the Paharipura Police Station, the police had recovered 11 kilogram of hashish from the house of an Afghan national, Muhammad Aslam, during search. The court awarded 25 years sentence and imposed Rs200,000 fine on the accused.
