AMMAN — A security source at the Jordan Armed Forces-Arab Army has said that an eastern military zone unit, in coordination with the Anti-Narcotics Department, thwarted an alleged drug smuggling attempt on the Jordanian-Syrian border, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported on Sunday.
He added that rules of engagement were applied after detecting several vehicles approaching Jordanian territory, resulting in their retreat to Syrian territory.
After searching the area, four boxes were found containing 2,680 rounds of AK-47 ammunition and nine bags containing 951 palm-sized sheets of hashish, 28,300 Tramadol pills and 183,000 Captagon pills.
All confiscated materials were reportedly seized and transferred to the concerned authorities, according to Petra.
