DUBAI: Amplifying its expanding footprint in West Africa, the Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry’s Ghana office recently hosted a networking luncheon for regional emissaries at the Kempinski Hotel Gold Coast City in Accra, Ghana.
Ambassadors from Nigeria, Liberia, Mali, Burkina Faso, Togo, Ivory Coast and Benin joined private sector business representatives and the Burkina Faso Chamber of Commerce to hear presentations from Dubai Chamber officials, including international offices director Omar Khan speaking on “Why Dubai Chamber is the Right Partner.”
“Set up as part of Dubai Chamber’s global strategy of exploring promising markets of the world, especially the African market, the Ghana office is on the right track to attract companies from West Africa while also promoting the emirate’s strategic location as a gateway to the MENA region and beyond and its business community’s competitiveness to overseas investors,” Khan said.
Business presentations also included contributions from Kojo Adjei-Barwuah of Abraaj Group on creating champions in sub-Saharan Africa and Fred Kojo Ellis of Agility Africa on Agility Distribution Parks – delivering international standards.
Dubai Chamber established its West African outpost in Accra in late January 2015 to promote Dubai as a business hub and strengthen economic and trade ties with Ghana and other African nations. The second outpost on the continent follows the 2013 premiere of the chamber’s Ethiopian branch in Addis Ababa. Additionally, the chamber maintains hubs in Azerbaijan, Kurdistan and Mozambique.
