DUBAI: His Excellency Ahmed Butti Ahmed, Executive Chairman of Ports, Customs and Free Zone Corporation and Director General of Dubai Customs, received the Director of the Regional Intelligence Liaison Office (RILO) in the Middle East of Riyadh, Faisal bin Saud Al Mujaish.
Butti welcomed Al Mujaish’s visit to the UAE and Dubai Customs, and they both discussed the mutual cooperation aspects connecting Dubai Customs with RILO ME. He also stressed the vital role of information nowadays, being an important resource in customs work, due to continuous growth of international trade; imports, exports and transit consignments, and owing to the remarkable and increasing growth witnessed in the Middle East in this domain. From this point, Dubai Customs is keen on consolidating its cooperation and communication ties with RILO offices worldwide.
Operated by the World Customs Organization, the Regional Intelligence Liaison Office in the Middle East is the customs authority responsible for passing information to its member states, which include the six GCC countries, along with Jordan, Yemen, Syria and Lebanon. Moreover, it coordinates with other RILO offices all over the world to prevent entrance of prohibited or counterfeit items which constitute a risk to community members’ safety, and incurs severe damage to domestic, regional and international economies.
