DUBAI: The Women’s Committee at Dubai Customs, in cooperation with Dubai World Trade Centre, has organised a workshop on food safety in support of the food bank initiative, following the wise vision and directives of Sheikha Hind bint Maktoum bin Juma Al Maktoum, wife of Vice President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Chair of the Board of Trustees of the #UAE Food Bank.
In the presence of Mohammed Al Jumairi, Vice President Hospitality, Dubai World Trade Centre, DWTC, Maryam Khalifa Al Shamsi, Head of Women’s Committee, and 200 female employees from different government departments, including Dubai Police, the Department of Naturalisation and Residency Dubai, Roads and Transport Authority, DP World, and Dubai Health Authority. Commenting on te workshop, Maryam Al Shamsi said, “The workshop highlighted the importance of preserving food and how to use the surplus food to enhance solidarity through charity. Women can learn to be an example to follow on this. We should minimise wasted food, and any surplus food can be donated to charity”. The workshop covered different ways of preserving, storing, packing, and using all types of food. Mohammed Al Jumairi said, “We are more than happy at DWTC to have partnered with Dubai Customs on this successful initiative under the leadership of Sheikha Hind bint Maktoum bin Juma Al Maktoum, wife of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum. It’s an integral part of the set of major values of giving and selflessness that the #UAE is characterised by.”
