DUBAI: The launch, marking the DC’s ongoing smart transformation, came during the department’s participation in this year’s Gitex technology week.

The Dubai Customs (DC) has revamped its website in accordance with the integrated service delivery requirements of the Dubai Smart Government (DSG) and international best practices.

The launch, marking the DC’s ongoing smart transformation, came during the department’s participation in this year’s Gitex technology week under the motto ‘We innovate to facilitate trade’.

The upgrading of the DC website is aimed at ensuring more accessibility and user-friendliness for customers, including users with special needs. The new website has a “simple yet responsive” design that promotes the corporate identity of the DC and enhances its technology position as a full-fledged smart government department, the customs said. Juma Al Ghaith, executive director of customs development division, said the “electronic bonding” between the department and its clients has proven to be the best means of exchange of information.

“This technique is time- and cost-saving, whereas the new-look web portal has been developed in conformity with Dubai m-Government standards and based on online feedback from clients and the public.”

The new website is an easily accessible, user friendly and fully integrated platform, he added.

“It encompasses all customs smart services, procedures and activities, which give the DC advantage in terms of operational efficiency.”

Khalil Saqer bin Gharib, director of corporate communications, said the new website provides better communication with clients, partners and the community. “It also ensures uninterrupted flow of information generated at the DC with the highest levels of transparency and credibility.”

As a reliable source of information, the new website serves decision makers, economic experts as well as local and global media by making available detailed statistical data of Dubai’s trade with the world and other key statistics, he explained.

“The new website provides new video content library covering DC’s events and activities. It also presents clients with real-time interactive tools for feedback and evaluation of services while users can be instantly redirected to the DC’s platforms on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram.”

Browsing experience of the website has become much faster via personal computers or smart phones, he underlined.
