DUBAI: The Dubai Customs Training Centre, jointly with Happiness Team of the HR, Finance and Administration Division, launched the Happy Reader contest, under the theme “A Happy Reader … A Happier Department.”
Dr Shaikha Al Ghafri, Acting Director of the Training Centre, noted that such initiatives are important because they encourage employees to develop their personal and work competencies through reading. “The move is in line with the National Reading Strategy and aims to promote reading in Dubai Customs,” added Al Ghafri.
Acting Director of HR Department, Fouad Ali Al Suwaidi said that in order to enter the contest, the participant should be a Dubai Customs employee and should choose a book from the Training centre library or the book stands installed at various departments, on topics such as law, customs, media, management, leadership, finance, IT, happiness, innovation, family, etc.
A book summary of 100- 150 words that mentions why the participant was happy with the book and how the idea of the book can be implemented on a personal or business level should be written by the participant and submitted to Dubai Customs “Read” team. Employees from grade 7-12 who wish to participate in the contest should read at least 5 books and those from grade 13 and above should read a minimum of 3 books to win cash prizes.
