DUBAI: Roads and Transport Authority (RTA), revealed that total operating revenues of the Dubai Taxi Corporation (DTC) reached Dhs1.481 billion in 2015 compared with Dhs1.311 billion reported in 2014.
The total profits posted by the DTC last year amounted to Dhs280 million compared with Dhs270 million in 2014 after deducting franchise fees paid by the DTC to Public Transport Agency against plate fees, and booking & distribution fees among others.
Mattar Al Tayer, Director-General of the RTA said: “The DTC has carried out about 47 million trips in 2015 at an average of 129 thousand trips per day compared with 46 million trips recorded in 2014. Dubai Taxi had 94 million passengers in 2015 as compared with 92 million in 2014.
The overall indicator of the DTC in 2015 has seen a 14 per cent growth in the number of trips and passengers, compared with 2014. The DTC has launched several initiatives including beefing up its fleet by 420 new vehicles; bringing the total number of vehicles to 4,673 vehicles including 350 vehicles dedicated for Dubai and Al Maktoum International Airports, 113 vehicles for VIP service, 100 vehicles for ladies, 3 vehicles for Hatta city service, 385 vehicles for Hala Taxi service, and 3,722 vehicles for the standard commission taxi.
