FLORIDA: The committee will be chaired by Farad Ali, CEO of the N.C. Institute for Minority Economic Development. Durham Chamber of Commerce since October 2007 is leaving the organization to head her own consulting business.
Casey Steinbacher, who has served as president of the Greater the Durham Chamber, has formed a special committee to oversee the search for Steinbacher’s successor.
During the search, the chamber’s interim president will be Bill Shore, a former board member of the Durham Chamber and former director of U.S. community partnerships for GlaxoSmithKline.Steinbacher, 59, said she has several consulting contracts and her last day will be Aug. 31.
Durham has seen more than $5 billion in announced new investment and created more than 20,000 jobs during Steinbacher’s tenure, according to the chamber.
