TEHRAN: Dutch exports to Iran increased by 21% last year, ahead of the lifting of international sanctions in January this year. The value of goods exported from the Netherlands reached €450 million, putting Iran 64th in the ranking order of destinations, according to figures published by national statistics office CBS.
Medical equipment made up more than one-third of all exports. In 2011, as the US and European Union trade embargo was being phased in, Dutch companies exported €600 million worth of goods to Iran. Before 2010 the country was one of the main suppliers of oil to the Netherlands, selling €944 million worth in 2009, but all imports were suspended in 2012.
