E-Commerce recorded 50pc increase in last 3 months, says Syed Zia Alamdar

FAISALABAD: Total business volume of E-Commerce has recorded a phenomenal increase that jumped from $60 million to $2 billion just within a short span of few years, said acting President Faisalabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (FCCI) Syed Zia Alamdar Hussain.

He was talking to Vida XL Comepresentative Joost Van Der Geltr, an online company of Netherlands. Joost was on a business trip to purchase different products including textiles from Pakistan, India, China and Bangladesh for his company.

Syed Zia said that online business was a new concept and during last three months this business has recorded 50 percent increase which is reflective of its bright future. This new trend will provide quality products at comparatively cheap rates as it has many advantages including maintaining only warehouses instead of well decorated departmental stores in posh city areas.

The general consumers, under this scheme has a unique facility to get products of its choice while sitting in his house and by just with a single click on his computer. He said that presently there is no scope of this system in Pakistan but we can provide commodities to these online companies for onward supplies to their consumers particularly in Europe and other developed countries.

Joost told that the head office of his company was in Holland. This company was daily sending more than 5000 parcels. The business volume of ViDA XL. Com has risen to 150 million Euros. It is a comparatively a small company but its growth is much faster and just during last week it has started online supplies to the consumers of North America. He further told that mostly his company was supplying home textile, towels, made ups but now they have plans to expand and diversify its product line. “I am in Pakistan to make purchases for my Company”, he said and added that he was expecting to add sports ware, boxing gears and musical instruments etc. He further told that they have a well net distribution system and all products are delivered within a record period to two days in any part of Europe.

Pakistan Hosiery Manufacturers and Exporters Association (PHMA) Central Chairman Dr. Khurram Tariq told that a Sialkot based company is producing and supplying horse rider’s shoes to the different countries. These shoes are specifically manufactured according to the size of its consumers, he said and further told that 3D systems was in the offing and anybody could give the size and measurement of his cloth by standing before a 3-D camera. Pakistan can also supply these consumer specific cloths to these companies. He further told that Faisalabad based companies are in a position to make supplies to the online companies in accordance to their need and demand.

Later Syed Zia, acting President FCCI presented a shield to Joost. Jamil Ahmad, Vice President FCCI and Malik Usman Hadi of Klash Group were also present during this meeting.
