PARIS: In excess of €43,000 was seized at Rosslare Europort as a man attempted to board a ferry to France.
Officers from Revenue’s Customs Service seized €42,700 and £900 pounds sterling from an Irish national at the busy port as a result of routine profiling.
The man in his 60s was about to board a ferry to France when he was stopped and questioned by officers and the seizure was made in accordance with the proceeds of crime legislation.
Judge Gerard Haughton granted revenue officers a three month detention order at Gorey District Court to allow them carry out further investigations.
