Economic Corridor big headway towards strengthening socio-economic ties between Pak, China: Sartaj

ISLAMABAD: Adviser to Prime Minister on security and foreign affairs, Sartaj Aziz, speaking at an event to mark the successful visit of Chinese President Xi Jinping to Pakistan, said that economic corridor is very important for Pakistan and it will be carried out on fast-track basis.

He said that Pakistan takes it a big challenge ensuring its implementation, since it meant to improve the living conditions of their people, and further consolidate Pak-China relationship.

The function was arranged by the Chinese embassy to express it thanks to the government and the people of Pakistan for extending enthusiastic and warmest-welcome and courtesy to President Xi during his stay in Pakistan.

It was an extra-ordinary welcome to the Chinese top leader which speaks high the depth of their ideal and unique relationship, said the Chinese ambassador Sun Weidong in his address on the occasion.

The function, held at the Pak-China Centre, was also attended by Federal Minister for Planning and Development Ashan Iqbal and special assistant to the PM Tariq Fatimi.

The thanks-giving celebration was marked by holding an art performance by the Chinese Culture troupe. The performance which included Chinese traditional dances, songs, acrobatics, and martial art were highly appreciated by the audience. A photo exhibition, depicting history of Pak-China relationship was also arranged on the occasion.

Sartaj Aziz, in his address, further said that the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor is a big headway towards the strengthening of the socio-economic relations. This mega project is enjoying complete backing of the people of Pakistan, he added.

The Chinese envoy said the corridor project is a sign of bright future of their relationship. Pakistan and China are two iron brothers who are committed to work together for bringing peace and prosperity not only in Pakistan but whole of the Asian region. After the successful visit of President Xi, now the two countries will lay greater focus on the implementation of the corridor project, he added.
