LONDON: The economy has shrunk in the month since Britain voted to leave the European Union, according to an economic think tank.
The National Institute of Economic and Social Research said its model, which is used by policymakers including the Treasury, estimated that output fell by 0.2 per cent in July. Its findings add to growing concerns about lacklustre growth going into the second half of the year.
Growth in the three months to July fell to 0.3 per cent, which reflects a significant slowdown compared with the 0.6 per cent growth recorded in the three months to June.
