KARACHI: The educated employees of Class-IV are waiting for their due promotion in Model Customs Collectorate of Appraisement (West) and Model Customs Collectorate of Appraisement (East) for last many years. Interestingly, several Bachelors and Masters’ degree holders are working as office assistants in the MCC of Appraisement (West) and MCC of Appraisement (East) and despite their high education and work experience, they have not been promoted. One of the office staffers in MCC-Appraisement (West) told Customs Today said that he is working as the office staff in the Collectorate for last many years and recently acquired the Masters’ degree, but despite several requisitions to the authorities concerned, he has not yet been promoted to the next grade and still working on the rank of sepoy. “My educational qualification and duration of the service allow me to be promoted to the rank of LDC or UDC, but unfortunately, the authorities concerned despite several requisitions have not taken any action in this regard”, he added. It is worth mentioning that the Supreme Court of Pakistan has already passed the orders that hawaldars, sepoys and sweepers of Grade 2 and Grade 3 to be promoted in the next grades. However, the authorities concerned of Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) have not yet complied with the orders of the apex court.
